WVACD was founded in Braxton County, WV on October 17, 1963 by Burl Allen (NPCD), Edward Bumgarner (WCD), Luther S. Britton (MCD), Silas Compton (PVCD), Doyle Hale (LKCD), Leonard Marcum (GCD), EP Saville (PVCD) and Dewey F. Sharpe (GVCD). Elk Conservation District provided the first office space and the main office of WVACD is still located in Braxton County near the Elk CD office today.
Officers of WVACD serve a two-year term. Officers were selected in July 2026 and are as follows
