WVACD and conservation districts offer several awards, contests, and special recognitions. From farms that have been in the family for centuries, to recognizing WV's environmental teachers, to honoring a Rookie Supervisor, WVACD appreciates the hard work that many people do all year long to make WV a stronger and healthier state.

Contests include the following:
Contests include the following:
- Photo and Poster Contest (local, state, and national levels) - due at the July quarterly meeting
- Century Farm Program - Due to conservation districts February 1 . Districts send their winners to Ken Brown by April 1
- Conservation Teacher of the Year - Due July 1 to WVACD Office
- District of the Year (Conservation Education Award) - Due at the July quarterly meeting
- WVACD Excellence in Conservation Communication Award - Due September 1 to the WVACD Office
- Rookie Supervisor of the Year Award - Due September 1 to the WVACD Office
- Samara Program - Test typically taken in the spring of the school year and results of the tests submitted to the local conservation district the last week of April.
- Carroll Greene Award - Due to WVCAC Secretary September 1
- Honorary Member & Member at Large - Due to WVACD Office September 15
College Scholarships:
College Scholarships:
Several $1,000 college scholarships offered by the WVACD and the Southern Bull Test are available to graduating high school seniors who plan on majoring in an agricultural field. Applications are due to the WVACD office by the first Monday in March.

Century Farm
centuryFarmAppl.pdfThe Century Farm Program recognizes farms that have been in the same family for at least 100 years. Conservation Districts and WVACD recognize the importance of family farms in West Virginia and want to recognize the great achievement of keeping the family farm.
Award categories include:
Century Farm - 100 years
Sesquicentennial Farm - 150 years
Bicentennial Farm - 200 years
Sestercentennial Farm - 250 years
Please contact your local conservation district for more information and application deadline information. Most conservation districts have an internal deadline of February 1st.
